Job summary

Are you seeking a professionally fulfilling role with an excellent work-life balance? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our team within General Adult Acute Inpatient Psychiatry on the beautiful Isle of Man.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Isle of Man Mental Health Service (MHS), a division of Manx Care, you'll be joining a dynamic team that delivers a comprehensive range of mental health services to the Islands community. Working alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist and a multi-disciplinary inpatient team, you will provide an effective clinical service with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the acute inpatient setting. You will take a lead in the identification of cases for psychiatric assessment and intervention and contribute to the subsequent formulation of care plans for those in need of specialist intervention. If you have advanced clinical, management, and leadership skills, along with experience and expertise in psychiatry, we would love to hear from you.

 Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, the IOM Public Service offers two pension arrangements; the Isle of Man Government Unified Scheme 2011or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) Arrangement.

Our on-site education and training centre, Keyll Darree, comprises a lecture theatre, well stocked medical library, training facilities and a state-of-the-art simulation lab which is operated by trained simulation practitioners.

We recognise the need for all medical staff on the Island to maintain connections with medicine in the United Kingdom and encourage links with other units, as well as providing study leave with pay and expenses to attend approved conferences and workshops.

 Ability to apply for an unpaid career break after 3 years’ service.
