About the role and our team

We are looking for a confident, proactive and forward thinking Registered Nurse to contribute to the day to day running of our Pre-Assessment Clinic on the Isle of Man!

The Pre-Assessment Clinic is a nurse-led service run by a small team of nurses and supported by Consultant Anaesthetic staff within the Surgery, Theatres, Critical Care & Anaesthetics Care Group.

Undergoing surgery can be a stressful experience for patients but the Pre-Assessment Clinic provides a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where patients can be prepared physically and psychologically for their forthcoming operations and discharge from Hospital. 

You will be responsible for:

• Participating in the Pre-Operative Assessment of patients requiring planned surgical interventions
• Maintaining effective communication with patients, relatives, carers and other members of the team
• Keeping records in relation to patient-related activity

In the absence of the Lead Nurse, you will be expected to effectively and efficiently manage the resources available to care for patients. You will also supervise junior Registered Nurses (RNs) and Health Care Assistants (HCAs).

A job share would be considered.

• Time + 30% for work after 8pm
• Time + 60% for work on Sundays and Bank Holidays

• For candidates not on the Isle of Man we will reimburse your interview expenses and give you a relocation package of up to £7,000 to get you, your things and your family to the island. You will also be eligible for housing assistance to help contribute towards your mortgage or rent on the island
• For those relocating or returning to the island you will receive a refund on your national insurance contributions made in your first year, this could be up to £4,000!

A relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month. This role also qualifies for a recruitment incentive of £3,000, payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.
