To help us achieve this vision, we are seeking to appoint a knowledgeable, driven and forward-thinking Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology to join our supportive team at Noble’s Hospital!

About the role and our team

Opened in 2003, Noble’s Hospital is the Islands’ only District General Hospital situated on the outskirts of Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. It is equipped to the very latest standards; there is a total complement of 214 beds. There is also a cottage hospital, in Ramsey, situated in the north of the Island, where some Consultant clinical sessions are held and where there is a nurse-led minor injuries unit.

Noble’s Hospital provides comprehensive care for patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders and the service sees around 400 new and 1,500 follow-up outpatients annually. We also contribute to the care of an estimated 1,000-1,500 inpatients with co-morbid diabetes or other endocrine conditions annually, through face-to-face ward review or remote specialist advice.

You will join a strong multi-disciplinary team including Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Dieticians, Podiatrists, Healthcare Assistants and dedicated Administrative/Secretarial staff. With support from our dedicated Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurse, you will be charged with leading and developing our excellent Inpatient Diabetes & Endocrine Service to thrive.

Qualifications

Essential

• Full registration and license to practice with the GMC.
• Entry on Specialist Register in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus and General (internal) Medicine (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date).
• Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or overseas equivalent.
• MB BS / MB ChB or equivalent.
• MRCP(UK) or equivalent.
