About the role and our team
This exciting new role is designed to support the development of respiratory medicine services at Noble's Hospital.
The Respiratory Department currently supports a total of 9 inpatient beds on Ward 9 (Specialist Medicine Ward). The Consultant appointed to this post in conjunction with the lead will deliver daily sessions of care to respiratory inpatients, outpatient clinics, as well as weekly bronchoscopy services and sharing the inpatient referrals.
Opened in 2003, Noble’s Hospital is the Islands’ only District General Hospital situated on the outskirts of Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. It is equipped to the very latest standards; there is a total complement of 214 beds. There is also a cottage hospital, in Ramsey in the north of the Island, where some Consultant clinical sessions are held and where there is a nurse-led minor injuries unit.
Care Group activity includes around 30,000 outpatient appointments and 5,000 inpatient admissions per year. There are nurse-led services for chronic respiratory conditions, heart failure, cardiac rehabilitation, lung cancer, haematological malignancies, oncology and rare tumours, Parkinson’s disease, neurological conditions etc. The Coronary care unit at Nobles runs to a very high standard with nursing staff being highly praised by the recent Independent Healthcare Review. Our Nurses, medical team and Physiologists regularly attend training at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.

You will have the opportunity to participate in the on-call rota which attracts an extra 2.0PA and an out of hour’s availability supplement of 5%.

A relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
