About the role and our team

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Deputy Manager to join our Drug and Alcohol Team (DAT) within Mental Health Services!

DAT is a community team working within a harm minimisation framework to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based assessment treatment and support service to people who are presenting with alcohol and/or drug dependency. We deliver an Island-wide substance misuse specialist service for people of all ages.

You will be part of our friendly, hardworking team who have a can do attitude, in what is a difficult and complex speciality.

In this role, you will support the DAT Manager with the day-to-day operational functions of the service, as well as contributing to the management of our team of dedicated professionals.

Some of your other responsibilities will include:

• Triaging new referrals
• Providing management supervision
• Ensuring continued professional development of the team is kept up to date
• Being a positive role model for the team
• Contributing to service audit and development
• Chairing and participating in weekly MDT meetings 
• Managing a small complex caseload of community based patients with substance misuse and/or and mental illness

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Recognised professional qualification in Mental Health/Social Care and a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration/ General Social Care Council or equivalent.
• Education to Masters Degree level in a relevant speciality, or experience and ability to work at Masters Level.
• Relevant evidence of additional training in Management and Leadership.
