Main duties of the job

As a member of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for the nursing assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. In the absence of the Sister / Charge Nurse or Deputy you will effectively and efficiently manage the resources available to care for patients on the shift. Supervise junior Registered Nurses (RNs) Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and Student Nurses. Keeps records in relation to patient-related activity maintaining confidentiality and within relevant legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.

About the role and our team

Join our team as a Registered Nurse on the Female Surgical Ward at Noble’s Hospital on the Isle of Man!

You will be part of our fast-paced, friendly and dynamic team within Surgery, Theatres, Critical Care and Anaesthetics, where we are committed to delivering high standards of quality care to our patients.

Each day in this role will be different as we receive a variety of surgical and medical patient admissions on the ward. Some of your daily responsibilities could include:

  • Participating in the pre-operative assessment of patients requiring planned surgical interventions
  • Contributing to the effective discharge planning of patients, coordinating with other services such as Social Services, District Nurses and Health Visitors
  • Educating and supporting junior Nurses and Health Care Assistants
  • Organising your own workload, ensuring that the interests of patients are paramount

You will also have the opportunity to bring new ideas forward, participate in practice development and get involved in the positive learning culture facilitated throughout our Care Group.

    • Time + 30% for work after 8pm
    • Time + 60% for work on Sundays and Bank Holidays

  • For candidates not on the Isle of Man we will reimburse your interview expenses and give you a relocation package of up to £7,000 to get you, your things and your family to the island. You will also be eligible for housing assistance to help contribute towards your mortgage or rent on the island
  • For those relocating or returning to the island you will receive a refund on your national insurance contributions made in your first year, this could be up to £4,400!
