Job summary

As Clinical Practitioner you will be responsible for delivering a prompt, high quality Practitioner led service in the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) based in Ramsey Cottage Hospital. Our terms and conditions are not Agenda for Change; however our pay bands equate to the UK NHS bands and have advantageous pay scales.

Main duties of the job

1. You will work autonomously to assess, diagnose, treat and arrange follow up, referral or discharge for patients who attend the MIU. 2. Autonomously manage patients attending MIU with a number of presentations including fractures, burns, lacerations, minor eye injuries, soft tissue injuries and minor illnesses. 3. Prioritise patient care at all times to ensure that urgent cases are dealt with without delay. 4. Engage in rotational working between Ramsey MIU and the Minor Ambulatory Care Unit (MACU) at Nobles Hospital where required, and support colleagues to do the same. 5. Prescribe medications or follow Patient Group Directions to safely administer/ supply medication to patients, Presenting with undiagnosed and undifferentiated diagnosis of injury and illness. 6. Utilise excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with colleagues and patients, and to maintain accurate contemporaneous records of each patient episode. 7. Ensure people at risk are protected in line with the Manx Care adult and child safeguarding policy

About the role and our team

As Clinical Practitioner you will be responsible for delivering a prompt, high quality Practitioner led service in the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) based in Ramsey Cottage Hospital.

You will work autonomously to manage a case load of patients who attend the unit as a result of undiagnosed/undifferentiated problems. Using your advanced knowledge and Clinical skills, you will assess, diagnose, treat, discharge or refer patients to other health care professionals as appropriate.
