Healthcare Assistant - Day Patient Unit

Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Day Patient Unit up at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The Day Patient Unit consists of a 19 bedded ward area with additional seatedwaiting areas for ambulatory patients. A minor operation/procedure room with 2 beddedpost-anaesthetic recovery unit also forms part of the unit along with an Endoscopy Suite.

Service users attend the unit for a variety of surgical, endoscopy, dental, interventionalradiological and other diagnostic procedures.

The overall purpose of the role is to practice clinically as a member of the nursing and multi professional team within the Day Patient Unit. This involves contributing to the evaluation ofthe effectiveness of planning and delivery of services and to be proactive in maintainingquality, service improvement, and patient flow in a safe and comfortable environment.

The Day Patient Unit relies on the multi-skilled nature of the team and whilst previousexperience would be an asset, this role is also developmental so offers the opportunity togain knowledge and skills to provide assistance in, for example, the minoroperations/procedures room and endoscopy suite. Pre-Assessment also forms part of theWard responsibilities.
