Job summary
The States of Guernsey are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join their friendly team within HSC Adult Physical Health in the beautiful island of Guernsey based within the Channel Islands.
This post will give the lucky post-holder a unique opportunity to gain experience working as part of a flexible Occupational Therapy Service and a wider multi-disciplinary team in a variety of settings. This will be working within the Physical Health inpatient and community settings including service users own homes.
Under the guidance of an Advanced Band 7 Occupational Therapist you will have the exciting opportunity to rotate across a number of specialities. This includes acute medical, Accident & Emergency, surgical, orthopaedic, inpatient rehabilitation and the community. There may also be development and an opportunity to work in additional physical specialities in the future.
You will manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Providing an efficient, effective and co-ordinated Occupational Therapy Service to the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment and rehabilitationservice to Service Users who have varying disability needs.
Provide supervision and facilitate professional development with Occupational TherapyAssistants and Occupational Therapy students.
To have an active role in education of staff through in-service training, multi-disciplinarytraining programmes, IHSCS programmes, OT student training and work experience; andto work in an education role with other staff groups and with the wider multidisciplinary team and outside agencies/charities.
Have a commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) by collaborativelyworking with professional colleagues to provide a high standard of multi-disciplinary service.
To work as part of a flexible Occupational Therapy Service and a wider multi-disciplinaryteam in a variety of settings including Service Users own homes, community settings,long term care areas, Service Users work place, as well as within the Princess ElizabethHospital.

To carry out appropriate assessments, undertake individual client-centred treatmentprogrammes focusing on agreed goals and to evaluate and adapt the programmes asneeds change.
To facilitate the safe discharge of individuals to community living.
To communicate complex, sensitive, clinical and procedural information to clientand/or carer.
