Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Staff Nurse to join the team in Roustel Ward.

Roustel Ward is a 20 bedded unit that provides nursing care for people living with dementia whose behavioural needs cannot that be met in the community.

The Staff Nurse will co-ordinate the management of the ward in the absence of a Senior Nurse, taking responsibility, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained following the CARE values. Assisting service users with all activities of daily living is a core component of this role. The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, delivering, and evaluating personalised care for a group of individuals, ensuring service users and family are included in decision making, preserving privacy and dignity. They are responsible for their own personal development, ensuring mandatory/statutory training is completed in a timely manner. Adhering to all HSC policies and procedures. The post holder is expected to act as a mentor, practice assessor/supervisor to junior staff and students.

Main duties of the job

Roustel Ward is a 20 bedded unit that provides nursing care for people living with dementia whose behavioural needs cannot that be met in the community. The ward prides itself on providing care that is person centred, ensuring care plans are focussed on individual needs that support the persons transition through this difficult part of their journey with dementia. The aim being that the person will be able to move into a community based environment or return home. The continued involvement of family and friends is welcomed. The ward has been designed to provide a dementia friendly environment, the decor aims to offer sign posting and reminiscence for both the service user and their family. The team is made up of registered Mental Health Adult nurses and unregistered staff, they work within a multidisciplinary model of care supported by a Psychiatrist and Associate Psychiatrist.
