Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Breast Care to join the team within Cancer Services. The advanced nurse practitioner is a core member of the breast care multidisciplinary team, working closely with the consultant breast surgeon and the breast radiology team. In addition, the post holder will also work collaboratively with nursing colleagues from surgical areas, the oncology department and key stakeholders to deliver high level supportive care and information to patients diagnosed with breast cancer.

Key duties include:

As an autonomous practitioner, use advanced clinical skills to deliver an evidence-based nursing service, assessing patients and supporting the diagnostic pathway in line with current research and evidence-based practice

Provide a nurse-led follow up service for a defined group of patients, including those with breast cancer, in line with recommended pathways, conducting holistic assessments and signposting patients to other support services as necessary

As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, participate in patient management plans throughout the disease trajectory. Lead MDT meetings and results clinics in the absence of the Consultant Surgeon

Run nurse-led family history clinics for patients with a familial risk of breast cancer following NICE guidance.

Main duties of the job
