Job summary
The post holder will work as a Specialised Dietitian within the Bailiwick of Guernsey, in the Princess Elizabeth Hospital with some limited outreach to the community where appropriate for Oncology patients.
This varied and interesting post is challenging due to the breadth and depth of expertise required, and will only suit a confident and experienced State Registered Dietitian who has relevant experience and is able to juggle a wide case load with still demonstrating a compassionate, accountable, respectful and excellent approach to their work.
The post holder will be an active and valued member of the Oncology, Dietetic and as required Palliative care teams. They will support individuals undergoing acute chemotherapy treatments on Bulstrode House and returning from off island care in the UK, and those undergoing surgery. The post holder will look after 2 or 3 wards as part of their post and hold a varied case load as they work closely with Dietetic Colleagues including outpatient clinics as required.
Main duties of the job
This will include supporting discharges from hospital into the community enteral feedingservice which will include supporting some patients for short term enteral feeding in thecommunity. Due to the small nature of the team they will not have junior staff to share thecomplex work load, and will need excellent time management and workload managementskills. The role will vary as required to maintain the Dietetic service.
The postholder will undertake audit and service evaluation within Dietetic services asrequested to proactively support service improvement.
The post holder will proactively engage in education and staff development for nursingcolleagues supporting the training goals of the department.
The post holder will participate in relevant MDTs including the Bulstrode House MDT and theGastroenterology MDTs to ensure integrated patient care.
The post holder will have to demonstrate an ability for self care and to manage their workload in a way that is compliant with recent HCPC guidelines as working in the these serviceswill be highly emotionally demanding and challenging.
