Job summary
The States of Guernsey is looking for a Deputy Manager to join their team as part of Children and Family Community Services.
You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to the Short Break Service, offering bespoke packages of care for children with varying disabilities, acting as as a role model to less experienced staff (registered and unregistered) and participate in the development of the service.
You will deliver individualised care based on principles of best practice, through developing a theoretical knowledge base for the care of children with varying physical and learning difficulties.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake the assessment of service users with complex care needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care to meet these needs.
- Guide, advise and direct other staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care received by service users.
- Initiate risk assessment processes to determine risks to the health and well-being of service users with complex care needs, taking relevant action to minimise these risks.
- Lead a team of staff in emergency acute situations, ensuring that the service users needs are met and that significant others are supported.
- Utilise information and data from a range of sources to identify service users needs and to guide decision-making processes.
- Act in accordance with the standards, codes and guidelines laid down by the post holders regulatory body.
- Promote service user involvement in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care, respecting their wishes, beliefs and dignity.
- Independently liaise and communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and other agencies involved in the care of the service user.
- Assist the service user to safeguard their valuables and personal monies in accordance with their life plan and organisational policy and guidelines.
