Team Leader - Crevichon Ward (Band 6)

Job summary

The Team Leader(s) will support the Ward Manager in providing senior leadership to the Ward team. 

The post holder will deputise for the Ward Manager as required, and take a lead role in service management and delivery acting as a role model in establishing standards for professional practice within Crevichon Ward team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder, in conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, will be responsible for the delivery of high quality mental health care to service users. Team leaders will follow a recovery focussed model of care that promotes close team work, and liaison and partnership with other mental health services and agencies as required.

The post holder will be able to demonstrate knowledge and competence in working with service users who have moderate as well as severe and enduring mental health problems. The successful applicant will understand the theoretical components of the recovery model and will be able to apply this to practice, acting as a role model to peers and junior team members.

The post holder will be competent and empathic when working with service users who have mental health problems and will coordinate the clinical management of service users. They will also mentor and supervise junior staff and students who are on placement

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- To undertake the assessment of service users with complex care needs including individuals with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.

- To develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care to meet these needs.

LEADERSHIP/MANAGERIAL

- Support the ward manager in maintaining continuing responsibility for professional and procedural practice to ensure the provision of best practice

- With the ward manager monitor agree quality improvement metrics (KPIs) to enable reporting to the service managers and governance.

- To facilitate the recruitment and retention of staff as required.

- To co-ordinate a team of staff, ensuring that clear systems of communication are developed within the team and any work-related issues raised by the team are addressed

- To ensure team members are aware of ward and organisational objectives, policies and procedures and the implications they have for their practice.

- Support staff with performance issues developing action plans to address developmental needs.

- To actively promote evidence based practice in own and the practice of other members of staff involved in the care of the service user/.
