Main duties of the job
DMRC provides medical rehabilitation for patients
with complex needs who may have sustained
multiple injuries; this includes neurological injury and
complex trauma. In addition, the Centres of Spinal
and Upper Quadrant, Lower Limb and Specialist
Rehabilitation provide the consultant led
multidisciplinary management at secondary care
level.
The successful postholder will be responsible for
providing exercise therapy and rehabilitation to
Service personnel with complex clinical needs within
the Rehabilitation Division. You will provide full
support to the Line Manager, Treatment Co-ordinator
Warrant Officer (TCWO) and Exercise Rehabilitation
Instructor Professional Lead Advisor (PLA) in the
provision of a comprehensive, evidence based and
professional exercise therapy within clinical areas.

Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for the role include but
are not limited to:
- Performing appropriate clinical assessments and designing
and implementing safe and progressive exercise treatment schedules for all
patients.
- Communicating effectively with patients to ensure informed
consent for treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximising their
rehabilitation potential.
- Keeping a record of all specific treatments given and
patient's progression/regression in respect of such treatments on Defence
Medical Information Capability Program (DMICP) in accordance with the Standards
of Proficiency to Practice (SPP).
- Reporting any findings to the Medical Officer or Physiotherapist.
Developing and maintaining of their own personal service, and professional standards
to the highest attainable levels.
- Providing clinical reports to assist in the comprehensive
discharge planning for both referring source and ongoing patient care under other
health professionals.

- BSc Graduate in Sports Rehabilitation and maintain Full Graduate Membership of the British Association of Sports Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT).
- BSc Graduate in Sports Therapy and maintain Full Graduate Membership of the Society of Sports Therapy (SST).
- Ex-military ERIs who have completed the JSERI Course.
- Where an ex-military ERI is employed within the Civil Service, they must have completed a return to clinical practice (RCP), prior to employment or within the first three months of employment.
