We are seeking to recruit a full time dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 6 Primary Care Nurse to join our friendly, vibrant and fast paced organisation here at Hamworthy Barracks.

This position offers 37.5 hours per week and requests to work flexibly will be considered, in the case of a job share this will need to make up the full time hours taking into account the business needs.

Main duties of the job

Our successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering general medical services and elements of occupational health to military personnel and entitled civilian personnel.

You will work unsupervised, and be responsible for the delivery of appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs, medical screening and providing advice to patients within your professional competence.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As the successful candidate your duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform and supervise tasks required for the general running and administration of the Treatment Room, ensuring care delivery in accordance with national, Service policy and protocols, whilst matching care provision to the needs of the Service.
  • Assess the needs of patients against a recognised model of care, implement and evaluate care ensuring patients receive care according to practice guidelines and delegate care accordingly; this includes prioritising treatment and care.
  • Provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, and individualised patient care
  • Have direct responsibility for patient caseload, ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporate the issues and recommendations
  • Undertake men and womens health screening and education along with provision of family planning services and sexual health whilst working within their areas of competence.
  • Undertake preventative Health programmes, Screening programmes and Ministry of Defence (MOD) deployment guidance e.g. travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening, audiometry, and NHS Health Checks.
