Job summary

Here at Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) we are an inclusive and dedicated organisation working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel.

We are looking to appoint a talented leader who will have a key role in coordinating and managing the quality assurance systems and leading 2nd party assurance, as part of governance and assurance structure in Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC).

This is a full-time, permanent position offering 37.5 hours a week. Offers to work part-time will be considered, depending on business needs.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the Regional Headquarters (RHQ) DPHC team, the position holder will work remotely, within the defined geographical area, supporting the medical, dental, rehabilitation, mental health and occupational health teams deliver care to the military and entitled population. This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop and implement plans on a cross system basis. You will provide expertise and understanding of various components of clinical quality (safe, effective, responsive, well led and patient centred care).

A key focus of the role will be to ensure diligent management of assurance systems and ensure effective relationships with service clinical leads across the geographical area of responsibility. This post requires tenacity, well developed technical knowledge and practice to maintain an organisational influence that will positively develop our ability to sustainably deliver high quality care.

As the successful candidate your duties include, but are not limited to:

Act as the Assurance Team Lead on the 2nd party assurance of DPHC United Kingdom (UK) based facilities1, out with the post holders AOR, including the timely completion of the assurance report and recommendations.
Coordinate the 2nd party assurance of the DPHC facilities within the post holders defined geographical AOR.
Ensure that 2nd and 3rd party assurance reports, on facilities within the post holders defined geographical area, have action plans developed, monitored to ensure improvement outcomes, and lessons are shared and implemented across the AOR.
Ensure the effective and timely investigation and analysis of patient safety incidents within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) to ensure that lessons are identified, learned, and are shared.
Management, monitoring and analysis of quality assurance systems, including, but not limited to patient safety, patient experience (including complaints), stakeholder experience, clinical audit, assurance outcomes, and Common Assurance Framework standards, identifying trends, areas for improvement and sharing of best practice.
Support the delivery of training for facilities and DPHC personnel in patient safety, analysis of events when things go wrong, risk management, patient experience, quality improvement, clinical audit and risk management.
Co-ordination and preparation of quarterly reports and supporting evidence, on behalf of the Band 8A Patient Safety, Governance and Innovation Lead.
