Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Global medical supportability Cell (GMSC) Contractor screening general practitioner (CSGP) to join our primary healthcare team.
The Global Medical Screening Cell (GMSC) provides a single point of assured medical pre screening to Defence personnel and families accompanying an assignment overseas to ensure
that individual healthcare needs can be met by the host nation medical capabilities.
In addition to the main role of contractor screening the CSGP will work in collaboration with
members of the GMSC team will aid in clinical decision making on supportability in complex
cases for other MOD personnel assigned to alternative locations.
The vacant post is a part-time position working 26 hours per week. Days of work are to be agreed with the Line Manager on appointment.

Main duties of the job
Based at DMS (Whittington) the Defence Global
Practice (DGP) and Global Medical Supportability Cell (GMSC) provide medical
pre-screening of Circa 5000 people per
annum and primary and occupational healthcare advice and support (both virtual
and face to face) to a global diaspora of Circa 7000 Ministry Of Defence (MOD)
entitled patients (including Service Personnel, United Kingdom (UK) Based
Civilians and their families). Through effective medical pre-screening,
maintenance of a Global Virtual Practice and reach back support, optimise
patient care and enable any associated risk to be understood and articulated to
the Chain of Command (CoC).

Duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Collate
and note health markers (specified within BFSAI Senior Officer (SO) J1-Med-01) for all contractor
applications that require BFSAI SMO approval and provide supportability recommendations
to SMO BFSAI
- Providing clinical leadership on the management of other
complex medical pre-screening and overseas supportability cases including
liaising with Healthcare Professionals (HCP) in the UK and overseas.
- Participate in audit, in accordance with both
personal and practice development plans.

Selection Process
The selection at sift stage will be based on your CV and behaviours. At interview, you will be tested against the following Behaviours:
- NHS Core - NHSC5 - Quality

- NHS Core - NHSC4 - Service improvement
The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed, there will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.
All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.
