We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised, and enthusiastic Band 5 Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor to work within our team located at HMS Nelson Sickbay, Queen Street, Portsmouth, PO1 3HH.

This is a full-time position at 37.5 hrs per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for giving full support to the Line Manager in ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and professional exercise based rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. This will include undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the musculoskeletal/sports and training injury area.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering elements of occupational health within the Group Practice. The Practice is formed of 6 sites and there is an expectation the ERI will be required to work across the sites.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing clinical assessments, crafting, and implementing safe and progressive exercise treatment schedules for all patients after the MO/Physio has made a diagnosis.
  • Communicating effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential.
  • Assisting in identifying training needs, coordinating in-service training, and assisting with cleaning schedules.
  • Managing groups of injured personnel and applying exercise based rehabilitation protocols accordingly.
  • Supporting and attending weekly and monthly Special Interest Group and Clinical Governance Meetings where audit, research, service and policy development and presentations are conducted within the multidisciplinary team environment.
