Are you an experienced musculoskeletal
physiotherapist looking for an exciting and rewarding role in the East of
England? This is a fantastic opportunity to become a part-time Band 7
Advanced Physiotherapist, working with a multi-disciplinary Sports and Exercise
Medicine (SEM) team. You will work alongside an SEM Consultant, another
part-time Band 7 Advanced Physiotherapist and a Band 7 Podiatrist, leading with
clinical and healthcare governance, providing first-class care pathway
management for military personnel. The working environment is welcoming,

Although this role is based at Merville
Barracks, you will occasionally travel to
RAF Honington for training, HR and to support the services there. You will have
opportunities to visit the 13 primary care rehabilitation facilities Primary Care Rehabilitation Facilities (PCRFs)
that refer into the RRU specialist services, and you will work closely with the
lead physiotherapists at these PCRFs, ensuring patients are on optimal care
pathways.
This part-time position offers the successful
candidate 18.75 working hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and or part

Our patients are from
diverse military populations and present with an interesting mix of sports and
training injuries, trauma, as well as occupational and medical aches and pains.
The team use evidence-informed practice, with clinical reasoning to provide
optimal care for service personnel. Returning personnel to full fitness, and
maximising their well-being is our ultimate aim. You will be a key part of this
effort, referring into our team of Band 6 physio's and ERI's.
Lead by the military Officer Commanding (OC) at
Colchester RRU, being supported to develop your clinical, managerial and
professional leadership skills, as well as gain wider insight and understanding
of military healthcare. You will access regular CPD, as well as experiences and
insights into Defence that are fascinating, unique and informative. Having opportunities to be involved in national innovative quality
improvement projects, aiming to continually provide the very best
rehabilitation service to our military personnel.
Being based at Merville Barracks, on the outskirts of
historic Colchester,you will have access to the RRU gym,
garrison gym, swimming pool and squash courts, with secure bike parking & on-site car parking. Close to the iconic Essex
coast & expansive Friday Woods, there is ample opportunity to make the most
of the open spaces for walking, running and cycling at lunchtime.

of onward care pathways for injured service personnel referred to the RRU.
Liaison with physiotherapists and medical officers in our area of
responsibility (AOR) and other stakeholders outside the RRUs AOR.
Assuring the provision of a comprehensive
and professional rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. Provision of
extra-corporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) clinics, diagnostic ultrasound and
injection therapy (if trained).
Healthcare governance,
clinical assurance and line management as required.
Responsibilities include but are not
limited to:

Acting as the musculoskeletal clinical rehabilitation
specialist within the RRU Multi-Disciplinary Injury Assessment Clinic (MIAC).

Diagnostic assessments of patients referred to the RRU
from across Defence Healthcare. This will include diverse, complex, multiple,
acute and chronic physical and psychological conditions, sports and training
injuries.

Using clinical reasoning skills to provide appropriate
care pathway plans.

Assisting the MIAC consultant in appropriately referring
patients for clinical imaging and secondary care, in line with national and
local guidelines.

Providing comprehensive progress and discharge reports to
colleagues and referring clinicians.
