Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing flexible and individualised care packages to meet the mental health (MH) needs of military personnel.

You will aspire to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to provide a specialised/occupational mental health service within psychological rehabilitation. You will require robust clinical risk assessment skills and will be willing to gain a solid understanding of the occupational role and needs of individuals presenting to the service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a rapid, timely and high quality mental health service to all patients referred to the Psychological Wellbeing Service (PWS) for assessment and treatment of mental health problems and implementing changes as and when necessary.
  • Managing a clinical caseload delivering optimum personal and professional standards to assist the care process in accordance with Defence Mental Health Services protocols and clinical governance.
  • Providing clinical and educational resource to the various rehabilitation teams within DMRC and offer advice on mental health matters, the administrative management of personnel with mental health difficulties and when required to assist within the team in mental health promotion.
  • Delivering up to date, evidence-based interventions for mental health problems based on guidance from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the National Treatment Agency (NTA), which can include individual, group and tele-therapy.
  • Conducting clinical risk assessments on all patients seen, evaluating the safety of the patient and be able to manage/ advise on therapeutic risk taking.
  • Engaging in clinical supervision, case conferances/care meetings where mental health clinical input is required.
  • Presenting patients updates to the PWS MDT for guidance, support and training.
