We are looking for a Pain Management Consultant to join our team here at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Center Stanford Hall,Loughborough.
DMRC is established to provide a Rheumatology, Rehabilitation
and Sports/Exercise Medicine service for UK Service personnel, and the Pain
Management Service has a significant role in all 3 elements.
This position offers up to
40 hours per week as a Job Share. Requests to work flexibly will be considered,
taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Main duties of the job
DMRC is the only
Defence location offering Pain Services and will accept internal referrals for
ongoing patient support and referrals from primary care for single episode
advice and guidance. Pain Services provide a multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
approach, enhanced pain assessment, medication optimisation and pain
interventions to facilitate rehab and function and education.
The purpose of this role is to provide clinical leadershipto deliver a
high-quality clinical pain service and promote a culture of
evidence-based best practice, in line with relevant literature and guidelines.

Job responsibilities
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
- Clinical team leadership, direction, support, and guidance to a team of highly skilled Pain Specialist Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs) to deliver an occupationally focused Pain Management resource within a rehabilitation service, in collaboration with wider Defence Medical Services (DMS) including Primary Care, Occupational Health and Mental Health, and the Chain of Command (CoC).
- Providing a pain
intervention clinic to facilitate rehab and function within the larger MDT.
- Coordination of surgical, medical, rehabilitation, psychological and social care input to ensure delivery of a patient-centred, integrated, biopsychosocial model of care.
- Attending and leading Pain clinics, Specialist Rehabilitation Multi-disciplinary assessment clinics (MIACs) and review clinics as per individual job plan (to be agreed and signed off by Clinical Director annually).
- Assessing patients at regular intervals (including course admission and discharge etc) to review progress, in their long-term condition.
