We have a great opportunity for a dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 6 Nurse to join our Reserves Occupational Health Care team here at Baden Powell House, Catterick Garrison, DL9 3JS to provide rapid, timely and high quality occupationally focused primary healthcare to members of the volunteer reserve forces (VRF) personnel.
This is a permanent, full-time position offering 37.5 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. The salary will be pro-rata where part-time hours are undertaken.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a clinical and educational resource to colleagues, Civilian Medical Practitioners and Medical Officers and offer advice to reserve unit commanders on the military employability of their personnel.
The primary focus is on
occupationally focused primary care including supporting occupational grading,
force preparation and demobilisation, and health surveillance of Reserve
personnel.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving, evaluating and advising on requests for occupationally focused healthcare from members of the VRF and Reserve Unit chains of command.
- Providing initial assessment planning, implementing and evaluating care with a high level of autonomy.
- Appraising and summarising patients' health care records where relevant to military employability and referring to medical colleagues where further assessment is required.
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in areas relating to occupationally focused healthcare for Reserve personnel (including occupational health and travel medicine).
