This is a full time position consisting of 37.5 hours per week.

In addition to the above benefits, this role also attracts a Retention Allowance (RRA) of £1500 per annum (pro rata for part time).

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate, you will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare dental centres, enhancing force generation and operational capability and minimising dental morbidity on operations.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Heath Care (Dental) (DPHC(D)) dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.
  • Undertaking Continuing Professional Development in the core subject of medical emergencies, infection prevention control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection; legal and ethical issues and handling complaints, as recommended by the General Dental Council.
  • Carrying out and record daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies.
  • Ensuring adequate stocks of consumable dental materials are available within the surgery, maintain an effective expiry list ensuring all expired materials are removed and replaced as required.

There may be a requirement to be part of the regional on call rota for out of hours dental emergencies. This commitment is dependent upon local arrangements and may vary. This commitment may also include travelling to dental centres within the region other than the normal place of work.
