Job responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team within a Group Practice delivering general medical services and elements of occupational health to military personnel and trainees; the Group Practice is formed of two sites and there is an expectation you will be required to work across both sites (the other site being at Windsor).

Working autonomously in the provision of nurse led clinics, to meet the needs of the population at risk (PAR), being able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care of patients within their level of competence, whilst working as part of a wider team within the Group.

Delivering of appropriate treatment, screening and advice to patients within their professional competence and the Defence Medical Services (DMS) clinical guidelines and protocols. Being involved in communications with outside agencies and disciplines.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Person Specification

Experience

Desirable

• Experienced and competent in Physical Assessment and History taking, Minor Injury / Illness ability to triage and treat, Immunisation, Venepuncture, Audiology, Family Planning, Travel Medicine, Wound Care, Electro-Cardiogram and Cervical Cytology.
• The experience and ability to work autonomously.
• Effective organisational and delegation skills.

Qualifications

Essential

• Professional and specialist knowledge in primary healthcare acquired through post graduate degree/diploma or actively working towards this and can demonstrate equivalent level of competence and experience in clinical assessment and diagnosis.
• Must be a Registered Nurse, with live registration on Part 1 of the NMC Register and hold a valid
• and in date Personal Identification Number (PIN) with no restriction of practice

Desirable

• Including but not limited to: Clinical Supervision, Minor illness/injury, management of Long-Term Conditions, Asthma, Diabetes, Travel health, coronary heart disease (CHD), Family Planning/cervical cytology, Smoking Cessation and Independent/Non-Medical Prescribing.
• Mentorship Qualification
• Safeguarding Level 2/3 certificated qualifications.
• Hold in-date Basic Life Support (BLS), Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
