We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 6 Practice Nurse to join our multi disciplined vibrant and fast paced organisation.

The chosen candidates will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team within a Group Practice delivering general medical services and elements of occupational health to military personnel and trainees; the Group Practice is formed of two sites (the other in Windsor) and there is an expectation the Band 6 nurse will be required to work across both sites.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing appropriate Primary Healthcare (PHC) nursing care to the medical centre population in conjunction with the PHC team.
  • Providing a positive caring environment, in which patients can expect a high-quality professional service.
  • Demonstrating and confirming good practice in record keeping and confidentiality in accordance with NMC standards and military guidelines.
  • Assisting with the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Disease and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
  • Supervising and supporting the education and development needs of colleagues, less experienced staff and trainees (such as Medical Assistants, Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and Student Nurses). Advising and supporting the development of our multi-disciplined team members.

As the successful candidate you will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team within a Group Practice delivering general medical services and elements of occupational health to military personnel and trainees; the Group Practice is formed of two sites and there is an expectation you will be required to work across both sites (the other site being at Windsor).

Working autonomously in the provision of nurse led clinics, to meet the needs of the population at risk (PAR), being able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care of patients within their level of competence, whilst working as part of a wider team within the Group.

Delivering of appropriate treatment, screening and advice to patients within their professional competence and the Defence Medical Services (DMS) clinical guidelines and protocols. Being involved in communications with outside agencies and disciplines.

  • Must be a Registered Nurse, with live registration on Part 1 of the NMC Register and hold a valid
  • and in date Personal Identification Number (PIN) with no restriction of practice
