Job responsibilities

The successful post-holder will work independently to manage the day to day running of the dispensary, with responsibility for the safe and accurate dispensing of all medicines and medicinal products. You will provide advice on Pharmacy and prescribing issues to practice staff and be responsible for ordering and accounting for medicinal products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

During the initial interview the successful candidate will be assessed via the National Health Service (NHS) Knowledge and Skills Framework:

• NHSIK3: Knowledge and information resources

Qualifications

Essential

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent (Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) OR Grand parenting PLUS other additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions without further reference.
• Registered to General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Desirable

• 2 years post qualification experience in dispensing.
• Familiarity with practice (IT) Information Technology systems.
• Familiarity with procedures for procurement of medical supplies from wholesalers and other agencies.
