Main duties of the job

As the chosen candidate you will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

You will also be responsible for informing the General Dental Council of annual Continued Professional Development undertaken, when requested.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Ensure their surgeries are prepared appropriately for the day's patients in accordance with current regulations.
  • Carry out and record daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies.
  • Ensure a daily test radiograph is taken and processed with all findings reported in accordance with extant policies and signed off by a clinician or trained individual.
  • Maintain the standard and cleanliness of the surgery and accommodation for which they are responsible, reporting any deficiencies in accordance with local protocols.
  • Review the appointment diary at the start of each planned procedure and ensure the appropriate instrument sets are selected.
  • Prepare, mix, and handle dental materials in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, adhering to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations and Safety Data sheets.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Due to COVID 19, there is now a requirement for dental clinical staff to be fit tested for a FFP3 mask, which has to be worn when managing a patient who is undergoing an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) the successful candidate will be fit tested prior to commencing employment.
