This is a permanent position, offering 37.5 hours weekly. Requests to work flexibly will be considered, in the case of a job share, this will need to make up the full time hours taking into account the business needs.

Main duties of the job

As the chosen candidate, you will assist with the care delivery and running of the ward and to provide high standards of nursing care to patients admitted to the bedding down facility which is an extension of our primary care service. You will also provide care to patients who attend the primary care clinic for unscheduled and routine care, but who do not require bedding down.

You'll hold responsibility for the delivery of appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs, medical screening and be able to advise patients within your professional competence in line with current policy, guidelines whilst utilising agreed evidence based practice.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

Providing a high standard of nursing care to all patients.
Undertaking technical nursing treatments, e.g. venepuncture, Electro-Cardiograms, wound management, dressings, suture removals, etc.
Coordinating and monitoring medications consistent with current Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) policy, standards and legislation.
Providing nurses consultations, treatments and medications in conjunction with the Medical Officers (MOs) and independently in accordance with agreed PGDs and protocols.
Supporting a robust recall system for cervical cytology and immunisations, ensuring all patients are invited for tests/vaccinations in a timely manner in agreement with the national schedule.

Access to the NHS pension scheme is available to the successful candidate.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
