Main duties of the job

The Physiotherapist Clinical Specialist at the Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU) will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a specialist caseload of patients referred into the Multidisciplinary Injury Assessment Clinic (MAIC). They will act as the clinical physiotherapy lead within the RRU and will be expected to provide specialist advice and mentorship to physiotherapy staff in both RRU and the Defence Primary HealthCare (DPHC) Region in support of the Regional Rehabilitation Clinical Lead (RRCL).

  • Providing a positive caring environment in which patients can expect a high-quality professional service.
  • Providing full support to RRO/OC RRU in ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and professional physiotherapy/rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. This includes undertaking highly skilled and specialist work both within the RRU and region as required in support of RRCL.
  • Acting as the clinical physiotherapy lead in the RRU for specialist area of work e.g., sports and training injuries, training other staff in specialist area.

This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Band 7 Physiotherapist Clinical Specialist in Defence Primary Healthcare. Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due financial review. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and will end on 29th March 2024. You should be aware that when your Fixed-term Appointment at MOD comes to an end, arrangements will be made in line with the FTA policy. If you are a permanent MoD civil servant and are found successful for an advertised Fixed-term Appointment (FTA) you should move into the post under a Temporary Transfer (for up to a maximum of 3 years). At the end of the posting you will return to your previous MoD Business area. If this posting is at a higher grade, your promotion will be temporary, and you will return to your substantive grade at the end of the Temporary Transfer. If a Temporary Transfer cannot be agreed between all parties then a transfer on an FTA contract is possible, read the FTA and Change of Work Location in the UK policy for further information.
