Main duties of the job
The Ministry of
Defence now advertises for a Band 6 Practice Nurse in England and Wales. The successful candidate will be working as part of a multidisciplinary primary
healthcare team delivering primary healthcare nursing including elements of
occupational health. The post holder will work with the
Senior Practice Nurse or Senior Medical Officer within the medical
facility (MF) and will be a focal point for Primary Healthcare nursing
issues within area of practice.

Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Providing safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, and individualised patient care.
- Undertaking preventative health programmes e.g., travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening, audiometry.
- Managing the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g., Asthma, Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
- Undertaking technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients complex/specialist healthcare needs (e.g., wound care, sutures removal, electrocardiogram (ECGs), Cytology, Audiometry, Ear Care.
- Undertaking men and women health screening and education along with provision of family planning services and sexual health.
