Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide
administrative and clinical support for the provision of dental
care in Defence Primary Health Care Dental Centres (DC) to enhance force
generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on
operations. This is to include maintenance of clinical sessions, on average at
least 1 session per week, prioritised and directed from the Senior Dental
Officer (SDO)/Regional Headquarter (RHQ) chain of command (CoC) as required.
The timings for such sessions will depend on local staffing levels (effected by
staff absence/local detachment/illness etc) in order to provide DN cover. CDPM
will, when in surgery be required to delegate some management tasks to Agenda
for Change Band 4 Dental Nurse(s) as is normal in a dental centre.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking CPD in the core subjects of medical emergencies, Infection Prevention control
(IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection,
legal and ethical issues and handling complaints, as recommended by the GDC.
- Maintaining immunological protection against Hepatitis B in accordance with current
guidelines, advising their line manager of any change to immunological status.
- Managing dental records (electronic and manual). Ensuring the correct receipt, dispatch,
registration and storage of health records hastening any outstanding
documentation as required.
- Ensuring all requests under the Freedom of Information Act and the General Data
Protection Regulations, including Subject Access Requests (SAR) are logged and
managed in accordance with Defence Primary Health Care (Dental) Standard Operating
Procedures.
- Compiling and submitting dental returns in accordance with Defence Primary Health Care
(Dental) Standard Operating Procedures.
