Job summary

At Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) we are an inclusive, dedicated organisation working to provide outstanding care to our entitled personnel! We are looking for a hardworking, committed Band 4 Registered Civilian Dental Nurse to come join our supportive and welcoming team in the Dental Centre at Helles Barracks.

The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effectual, and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. We achieve this through the provision of an occupationally aware primary healthcare service which embraces dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.

This post is being advertised at 37.5 hours per week.Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare Dental (DPHC D) dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

You will be maintaining the standard and cleanliness of the surgery and accommodation for which you are responsible, reporting any deficiencies in accordance with local protocols.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

    • Undertaking Continuing Professional Development in the core subject of medical emergencies, Infection Prevention Control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection; legal and ethical issues and handling complaints, as recommended by the General Dental Council.
    • Carrying out and recording daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies.
    • Ensuring a daily test radiograph is taken and processed with all findings reported in accordance with extant policies and signed off by a clinician or trained individual.

    • Maintaining the standard and cleanliness of the surgery and accommodation for which they are responsible, reporting any deficiencies in accordance with local protocols.
