Job summary

The Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), based at The Dental Centre, Catterick Garrison has an exciting opportunity for a Civilian Dental Practitioner (CDP) available. We offer an inclusive working environment with substantial benefits!

We are looking for a well organised and adaptable Dental Practitioner who is also dedicated to providing excellent services to entitled personnel.

This is a full time position offering 37 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Main duties of the job

As the chosen candidate, you will be providing dental care for Service personnel including periodic occupational oral health assessment and appropriate dental treatment.

You will be spending 2 hours per week conducting non- clinical activities including practice meetings, training, and personal administration. The remainder of the contracted hours are to be utilised to provide clinical outputs and work should be directed towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of personnel for whom you are responsible.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting all personnel for whom they are responsible at intervals in accordance with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow up treatment as required.
  • Ensuring that contemporaneous notes are recorded on individuals integrated electronic healthcare records for all episodes of care.
  • Ensuring that surgery management, documentation including consumable stores, the safe custody of personal sensitive data and the maintenance of equipment is kept to a high standard at all times.
  • Onward referral of personnel to enhanced practitioners, specialists or consultants for treatment as appropriate.
