We are Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) and we are searching for a professional, motivated Band 5 Dental Hygienists to join our encouraging and friendly team at Northwood Dental Centre in Middlesex.

The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effective, and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. This is achieved through the provision of an occupationally aware primary healthcare service which includes dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.
This position is contracted part-time at 16 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be primarily providing dental treatment, oral hygiene instruction & education, administration, plus working towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of entitled personnel.
The successful candidate will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) Dental (D) to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Ensuring your surgery is prepared appropriately for the day’s patients in accordance with current regulations.
Carrying out and recording daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies.
Carrying out dental work under the direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in writing the course of treatment to be provided. This is in accordance with the Dental Auxiliary Regulations 1986, as amended by the Dental Auxiliaries (amended) Regulations 1991.
Ensuring that all periodontal patients and patients in other risk categories e.g., caries are recalled appropriately for review or at the next Periodic Dental Inspection appointments.
