We are looking to recruit a hard working, organised and enthusiastic Band 6 Practice Nurse to join our friendly team here at the Headquarters (HQ) Northwood Medical Centre. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering general medical services and elements of occupational health to military personnel.

This role is being advertised as a Fixed Term Appointment. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and will end on 31st December 2024.
Main duties of the job
The successful postholder will be able to work autonomously in the provision of nurse led clinics, meeting the needs of the population at risk (PAR), being able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care of patients within their level of competence.
Our successful candidate is responsible for the delivery of appropriate treatment, screening and advice to patients within their professional competence and the Defence Medical Services (DMS) clinical guidelines and protocols.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking technical nursing treatments for patients with complex/specialist healthcare needs, e.g. wound care, smear tests.
- Triaging and treating patients with minor illness/injuries.
- Assisting with the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Disease and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
- Developing plans to meet the health needs of patients including diagnostic tests; treatment plans, health promotion and prevention.
- Supervising and assessing clinical and administrative staff performance and development and conduct performance review process.
