We are looking to recruit a dedicated and motivated Band 5 Practice Nurse who will be working with our primary healthcare team at the Medical Centre, Albemarle Barracks in Newcastle. The successful post holder will be delivering primary healthcare including elements of occupational health.

Main duties of the job
The successful postholder will be working with the Senior Practice Nurse or Senior Medical Officer within the medical facility (MF). Occasionally they may be required to help to support the medical centre at Royal Air Force Boulmer in order to meet the needs of the service.
Depending upon qualifications and experience our successful candidate will have responsibility for the delivery of appropriate assessment treatment, screening and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance with Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) clinical guidelines and protocols.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing safe, evidence-based, cost-effective and individualised patient
care.
- Once trained and assessed competent undertaking preventative health
programmes e.g. travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening,
audiometry.
- Supporting the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma,
Diabetes, Coronary heart disease (CHD) and hypertension ensuring continued
maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
- Undertaking technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients (e.g.
wound care, sutures removal, Electrocardiograms (ECGs).
- Providing assistance to the Senior Medical Officer performing minor surgery.
