Main duties of the job

The aim is to maximise the deployability of the Population at Risk for whom they are responsible. This is to be achieved whilst complying with General Dental Council standards, Defence policies (e.g., Joint Service Publications 950), Defence Primary Healthcare Standard Operating Procedures and single Service regulations.

Job description

Job responsibilities

This is a Part Time role for 30.5 hours per week. The work pattern for the role will be:

Monday, Tuesday: 07:45 - 16:30

Wednesday, Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting all personnel for whom they are responsible at intervals in accordance with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow up treatment as required.
  • Providing an occupational oral health assessment, being fully conversant with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Dental Fitness categorisation and dental input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard for Service personnel.

  • Ensuring that contemporaneous notes are recorded on individuals integrated electronic healthcare records for all episodes of care.

  • Ensuring that surgery management, documentation including consumable stores, the safe custody of personal sensitive data and the maintenance of equipment is always kept to a high standard.

  • Onward referral of personnel to enhanced practitioners, specialists, or consultants for treatment as appropriate.

As a result of the changes to the UK immigration rules which came in to effect on 1 January 2021, the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points based system, where a role has been deemed to be business critical.

The role currently being advertised has not been assessed as business critical and is therefore NOT open to applications from those who will require sponsorship under the points based system.
