Job summary

We are Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), and we are searching for a professional, motivated Band 5 Dental Hygienist to join our supportive and friendly team at Dental Centre Corsham. DPHC is an inclusive and dedicated organisation working hard to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel!

Our primary purpose is to provide clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in DPHC dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Main duties of the job

Specifications:

The successful applicant(s) will be working 37.5 hours a week covering both Dental Centre (DC) Corsham and DC Warminster. This will be split by 22hrs a week at DC Warminster and 15.5hrs at DC Corsham on days detailed by Line Manager (LM), or as a job-share with successful individuals each working from one DC and covering each others role during times of annual leave.

They will primarily provide dental treatment, oral hygiene instruction & education, administration, plus working towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of entitled personnel.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Providing dental hygiene treatment in line with their approved scope of practice as per General Dental Council guidelines and in accordance with agreed patient group directive.

Working independently in accordance with Defence Primary Health Care

Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs), Joint Service Publication (JSP 950), Freedom to Speak Up documents and all other relevant policy and guidelines.

Carrying out and recording daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies.
