Job summary

Are you a Band 6 Physiotherapist looking for an exciting new role, working alongside the military, that offers numerous benefits and opportunities? This position is based at Carver Barracks, Saffron Waldon; however, due to the temporary closure of Wimbish Medical Facility, the medical team are currently working at Bassingbourn Barracks and the successful applicant will be expected to temporarily work from this location.

Our chosen candidate will be delivering a high standard of physiotherapy to Service personnel, including highly specialist interventions in the muscular-skeletal/sports and training injury environment.

You will be adept in providing a positive caring environment, in which patients can expect a high quality professional service.

This position is permanent 37.5 hours per week and requests to work flexibly will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata for part time hours undertaken.

Main duties of the job

Our chosen candidate will be giving full support to the Line Manager in ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and professional physiotherapy/rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. This will include undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the musculo-skeletal/sports and training injury area including group therapy.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • To perform highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment of patients referred by Consultants, General Practitioners and other Healthcare Professionals with diverse presentations and complex and acute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries. To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
  • To formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment, and appropriate clinical reasoning.
  • To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential. Patients may have barriers to communication e.g. English as their second language.
  • To advise referring clinicians with regard to specialist physiotherapy recommendations.
