Job responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking Continuous Professional
Development in the core subjects of medical emergencies, Infection Prevention
Control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation
protection, legal and ethical issues, and handling complaints, as recommended
by the General Dental Council.
Providing dental hygiene treatment in
line with their approved scope of practice as per General Dental Council
guidelines and in accordance with agreed patient group directive.
Managing dental records (manual and
electronic), ensuring the correct hastening, receipt, despatch, registration,
and storage of each Form Medical (F Med) 271.
Carrying out dental work under the
direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in
writing the course of treatment to be provided. This is in accordance with the
Dental Auxiliary Regulations 1986, as amended by the Dental Auxiliaries
(amended) Regulations 1991.
Being familiar of the content of the
Dental Emergency Resuscitation Kit (DERK), how to access it, how to use the
components and be capable of carrying out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
if necessary, in support of patients and colleagues.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this). If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
