Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor (ERI), to join the team within Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) located at RAF St Athan. The successful candidate will be organised, flexible, able to prioritise work commitments and with the ability to communicate at all levels.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of exercise based rehabilitation including highly specialist work in the musculo-skeletal/sports and training injury area for the population at risk (PAR), meeting Standards for Better Health by using a multidisciplinary approach.

To provide a positive caring environment, in which patients can expect a high quality professional service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Duties of this post include, but are not limited to;

  • The ERI is not to undertake, to give, or accept responsibility for the treatment of any patient who has not been seen and referred by a Medical Officer (MO)/ Physiotherapist. ERIs are not to accept direct or self-referrals for treatment. The ERI is to ensure that they operate within their Terms of Reference (TORs) at all times and are not to undertake any duties which contravene those TORs.
  • To perform appropriate clinical assessments and to design and implement safe and progressive exercise treatment schedules for all patients after the MO/Physiotherapist/Clinical Team Manager Defence Medical Rehab Centre (DMRC only) has made a diagnosis.
  • To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential
  • The ERI is to keep a record of all specific treatments given and a record of individual patient’s progression/regression in respect of such treatments on Defence Medical Information Capability Program (DMICP) in accordance with the SPP. The ERI is to report any finding to the MO/Physiotherapist.
  • Ensuring that high standards of confidentiality, recording, filing and storage of patient notes and statistical information are achieved and maintained in accordance with local policy.

The selection at sift stage will be based on your application form.
