Job summary

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 3 Civilian Dental Nurse who will be based at the Dental Centre, RAF Cosford, Albrighton.

This position is permanent role, offering 37.5 hours a week. Requests to work flexibly and/or Part Time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Main duties of the job

As the chosen candidate, you will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare dental centres, enhancing force generation and operational capability and minimising dental morbidity on operations.

You will be maintaining the standard and cleanliness of the surgery and accommodation for which you are responsible, reporting any deficiencies in accordance with local protocols.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Working in accordance with Defence Primary Healthcare Standard Operating Procedures and all other relevant policy and guidelines providing dental care support for Service personnel.
  • Managing dental records (manual and electronic).
  • Meticulous infection prevention control iaw HTM 01-05 and DPHC(Dental) policy.
  • Ensuring the surgery is prepared appropriately for the clinical session in accordance with current regulations.
  • Carrying out and recording daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment, reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies.
  • Meeting the needs of the patients by monitoring, supporting, and reassuring each individual according to their specific needs, providing appropriate advice when required.
  • Participation in regional on-call silent hours (optional, additional salary percentage award).

    There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
