Job summary

We are Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) and we are looking for an experienced Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) Civilian Dental Practitioner to join our supportive and friendly team at Dental Centre High Wycombe. We are an inclusive and dedicated organisation working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel!

The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effective and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. This is achieved through the provision of an occupationally aware primary healthcare service which includes dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.

This FTA Civilian Dental Practitioner position is advertised as full-time at 37 hours per week and the FTA contract will expire 19th June 2023. Requests to work flexibly as a job share will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please see attached the Fixed_Term_Appointments document for more information.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate your aim is maximising the deployability of the Population at Risk for whom you are responsible. This is to be achieved whilst complying with General Dental Council standards, Defence policies, Defence Primary Healthcare Standard Operating Procedures and single Service regulations.

Job responsibilities

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting all personnel for whom you are responsible at intervals in line with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow up treatment as required.
  • Providing an occupational oral health assessment, being fully conversant with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Dental Fitness categorisation and dental input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard for Service personnel.
  • Ensuring that contemporaneous notes are recorded on individuals integrated electronic healthcare records for all episodes of care.
