At Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) we are an inclusive, dedicated organisation working to provide outstanding care to our entitled personnel! We are looking for a hardworking, committed Civilian Dental Nurse to come join our supportive and welcoming team at Topcliffe Dental Centre.

The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effectual, and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. We achieve this through the provision of an occupationally aware primary healthcare service which embraces dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare Dental (DPHC D) dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Undertaking Continuing Professional Development in the core subject of medical emergencies, Infection Prevention Control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection; legal and ethical issues and handling complaints, as recommended by the General Dental Council.

Maintaining immunological protection against Hepatitis B in accordance with current guidelines, advising the line manager of any change to immunological status.

Being aware of the duty of confidentiality placed upon the Dental Nurses by the General Dental Council and understand the action that must be taken to protect patients’ confidentiality in accordance with the General Dental Council’s Principles of Patient Confidentialty document including the 7 Caldicott principles.

Working independently in accordance with Joint Service Publication (JSP) 950, DPHC (D) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), JSP 950, Freedom to Speak Up documents and all other and other relevant policy and guidelines.

The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.
