This Full Time position offers 37.5 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Main duties of the job

The Community Mental Health Practitioner will work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team to provide a specialised/occupational mental health service for all Service and entitled personnel within the DCMH area of responsibility (AOR) and the DPHC Region as required. The post holder will have experience of working in adult community mental healthcare.

The successful candidate will provide a rapid, timely and high-quality mental health service to all patients referred to the Department of Community Mental Health for assessment and treatment of mental health problems and implementing changes as and when necessary.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties include but are not limited to:

Receiving, appraising and advising on the direct referrals for mental health problems from relevant General Practitioners/Medical Officers (GP/MO).

Providing initial assessment and formulation of the mental health and treatment needs for referred patients, planning, implementing and evaluating care with a high level of autonomy.

Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in areas relating to mental health and in the promotion of psychological well-being to patients, professional colleagues, commanders and where appropriate unit personnel.

Maintaining and evaluate data on the outcome of clinical and educational work.

Initiating administrative advice on mental health management of service personnel on caseload to Unit Commanders and Medical Officers.

Maintaining professional knowledge and registration and/or accreditation in line with the code of conduct and standards of their United Kingdom (UK) professional regulatory body.

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse or graduate level professional with background in mental health; substantial post-qualification training and experience in at least 2 evidence based psychological therapies and accredited or eligible for accreditation from a recognised body (BABCP,BACP, UKCP) OR: Registered Mental Health Nurse with a demonstrable experience working at Band 5 or above. - Experience of working in a Community Mental Health setting. - Demonstrable experience of using NICE recommended Psychological interventions.
  • OR:
  • - Must possess a Post graduate/Graduate certificate in evidence based psychological treatments with demonstrable experience in a community mental health role.
