Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) Overseas Mental Health Team (OMHT) are
looking for a part-time Band 8C Consultant Clinical Psychologist to develop and
lead new services. The post requires someone with clinical dedication and an
excellent team focus, who can adapt to a new organisational culture whilst
still adhering to the highest standards of professional practice. If you are

This role covers two distinct areas: 0.5 FTE OMHT and 0.2 FTE wider
Defence responsibility for providing occupationally focused, mental wellbeing
support and consultation to select personnel within the Royal Military Police
(RMP). The post is part-time offering 26.25 hours per week (0.7 FTE). Due to
the nature of the responsibilities one candidate is sought to cover the whole
assignment.

Main duties of the job
The OMHT is a small, agile multidisciplinary team supporting Defence
personnel deployed overseas. The team's main task is to establish safe,
effective, interoperable care pathways for those experiencing mental health
difficulties. You’ll contribute to remote clinical assessment, consultation,
supervision & training activities in support of mental health colleagues in
Cyprus, adding more locations as the team develops. There will also be mental
health promotion activities tailored to task and location and inter-department
liaison across MOD. Regular travel to DMS Whittington will be required, as well
as visits to other Defence locations in the UK and occasionally overseas. OMHT is located at Defence Medical Service
(DMS) HQ in Lichfield (WS14 9PY) but we can offer a flexible base location for
candidates wishing to work nearer to home.

- Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent as accredited by BPS conferring eligibility for Chartership & full membership of Division of Clinical or Counselling Psychology). Training must have included models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist under protected title.
- Supervisor training for doctoral programme clinical psychology trainees.
Desirable
- Other related academic qualifications to Masters or Doctorate level.
