Main duties of the job
The Practice Nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering general medical services and elements of occupational health to military personnel. Our chosen candidate will be able to work autonomously in the provision of nurse led clinics, to meet the needs of the population at risk (PAR), being able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care of patients within their level of competence.
Please note that this a Fixed Term Appointment until 30/09/2023.

Main duties of the role include:

Undertaking technical nursing treatments for patients
with complex/specialist healthcare needs, e.g. wound care, smear tests.
·
Triaging and treating patients with minor
illness/injuries.
·
Maintaining an effective recall system for
Immunisation/Chronic Disease/Cytology and provide appropriate clinics.
·
Co-ordinating care of patients, referring to and liaising
with other agencies and disciplines.
·
Administering and supply medicines in accordance with
Patient Group Directions and DPHC policies and guidelines.

If found successful for this position, you will be required to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B. Failure to provide evidence of your immunity may result in the offer of employment being withdrawn.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

- Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration - Part 1 of the NMC Register and hold a valid and in date Personal Identification Number with no restriction of practice.
- Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures underpinned by theory.
- A Registered Nurse with professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma, supplemented by diploma level specialist training, experience, short courses.
Desirable
- Hold in-date Basic Life Support (BLS), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- A minimum of three additional post-registration Primary Healthcare Nursing related qualifications specific but not limited to: Clinical Supervision, management of Long-Term Conditions, Asthma, Diabetes, Travel health, Chronic Health Disease (CHD), Family Planning/cervical cytology, Smoking Cessation.
- Mentorship Qualification.
