Job summary

Here at Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), we are an inclusive and dedicated organisation working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel! We are looking for a friendly and well organised Band 3 Civilian Dental Nurse to join our team at Dental Centre Bicester.

The vacant post is a full-time position. Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full-time hours need to be covered.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Job responsibilities

Specific Duties and responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Fulfilling the needs of the patients by monitoring, supporting, and reassuring each individual according to their specific needs, providing appropriate advice when required. This may include recognising and interpreting behaviours, especially those associated with anxious patients and dealing with them accordingly.
  • Carrying out the demand, receipt and issue of equipment to meet the department’s operating procedures, ensuring all stores are accounted for in accordance with current Ministry of Defence accounting policies, using both computer and manual accounting procedures.
  • Maintaining immunological protection against Hepatitis B in accordance with current guidelines, advising the line manager of any change to immunological status.
  • Managing dental records (manual and electronic). Ensuring the correct receipt, dispatch, registration, and storage of Forms Medical 271.

Due to COVID 19, there is now a requirement for dental clinical staff to be fit tested for a FFP3 mask, which has to be worn when managing a patient who is undergoing an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) the successful candidate will be fit tested prior to commencing employment.

In-line with the NHS England approach, MOD is in the process of making full vaccination a condition of deployment for its healthcare workers employed across the UK.
