At Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), Canada House, we are seeking a Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU) Consultant with vision, substantial clinical experience and an excellent team focus, who can adapt to a new interpersonal culture whilst still adhering to the highest standards of professional practice.

This is a part time role offering 20 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a consultant-led specialist Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Sport & Exercise Medicine (SEM) service for Defence Rehabilitation, utilising the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) where appropriate, in order to deliver a world class level of rehabilitation for service personnel.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provision of a timely and effective rehabilitation service to all appropriately referred serving personnel.
  • Ensuring all clinical activity is detailed in line with single Service guidelines and Defence Rehabilitation record keeping policy.
  • Making clinical decisions on further investigation, intervention or referral of sophisticated patients attending Multi Interdisciplinary Clinic (MIAC.)
  • Referring patients into the National Health Service (NHS) or the Rapid Access Imaging and Fast Track Surgery contract as per DPHC policy.
  • Maintaining and developing clinical skills and knowledge in line with current development and research. Staff are entitled to 5 days study leave per year and are encouraged to achieve the equivalent of 50 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities per year (pro rata) to support the MOD's commitment to appraisal and revalidation.
