We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 3 Civilian Dental Nurse who will be working within our Dental Department, here at RAF Odiham, Basingstoke.

Main duties of the job

The successful post-holder will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare Dental (DPHC (D)) centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Job responsibilities

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

Ensuring their surgeries are prepared appropriately for the day's patients in accordance with current regulations.
Carrying out and record daily maintenance, servicing and pre-user checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies, completing daily forms for all equipment.
Preparing, mixing and handling dental materials in accordance with manufacturer's instructions; adhering to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations and Safety Data sheets.
Managing the patient appointment system.

Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Due to Covid 19, there is now a requirement for dental clinical staff to be fit tested for a FFP3 mask, which has to be worn when managing a patient who is undergoing an aerosol generating procedure (AGP). The successful candidate will be fit tested prior to commencing employment.

The successful applicant will have contact with patients and service users. In-line with the NHS England approach, MOD is in the process of making full vaccination a condition of deployment for its healthcare workers employed across the UK. In order to comply with our duty of care, we require our staff to have the COVID vaccine and we will ask for proof of vaccination status during the recruitment process. If found successful for this position, you will be required to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B. Failure to provide evidence of your immunity may result in the offer of employment being withdrawn.

Access to the NHS pension scheme is available to the successful candidate.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Candidates who hold the qualifications but are not yet registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) are eligible to apply for this vacancy. However, if found successful it is a requirement that you are registered with the GDC prior to starting in the post.
